About the event
Kirtan and mantra is a devotional practice that helps to uplift the mind, opening up the heart space to feel at one.
Sound and frequencies resonate with our chakra systems, realigning, revalancing and removing negative energies.
Singing is uplifting for the mind, body and soul, chanting is a form of meditation.
Combining the two can bring great joy and well-being.
It's also a lot of fun !
Kirtan is usually a call and response.
Accompanied by music.
Singing to the universe or your god.
Expressing our gratitude, love and devotion to our lives.
It includes using musical instruments.
It doesn't matter if your not musical, we drop the ego, even I can't sing !! but this is about what you can and can't do, it's about particaping and letting the ego go.
Adding sound vibrations from the instruments as a group can be so powerful!
As with anything one person alone is great, but 10 or 20 souls collective will be so much more powerful.
The mantras are usually one or two lines that are repeated over and over, with a lead vocalist to start, changing the speed and rhythm at times.
These mantras are easy to pick up and in time something you will find yourself doing aline in your own space and time bringing in peace and and sense of calm to still the mind.
